Spell Book

Hello,
I hope you had a great Christmas! I have my entry for Lili of the Valley's December Challenge to share with you today. You had to make Anything But A Card which was new for me because I haven't really branched out from cards before now, but I loved doing something a bit different. I decided to decorate a kraft journal in the style of a spell book using 'Abracadabra!'. I love the magic theme and this was one of the first stamps I bought from LOTV. So here it is:

I made some tattered stars using cheesecloth and hemp twine - I think this looks a bit like cobwebs!

I attached seam binding inside which ties into bow when the journal is closed.

I made the edges of the pages look a bit older with some Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Products used:
Papers - Kaisercraft and My Mind's Eye
Chipboard Letters
Kraft card
Cheesecloth, Seam Binding, Hemp Twine, Wizard's Hat charm - all from the Ribbon Girl
Stickles (Black Diamond)
Distress Ink (Walnut Stain)
Tiny wooden stars - Studio Calico

I'm really new to colouring and have a long way to go, but I'm hoping to work on this a lot in 2014! I hope you like my Spell Book - I think I'll be making more things like this in the future.

Thanks for looking,

Rebecca.

James the Bear with Snowman

Hello,
I have a quick card today that I'm entering into the Papertake Weekly Last Christmas challenge. I've kept it really simple with a James the Bear image from the LOTV Furry Christmas art pad (definitely one of my favourites). I promise I'll be doing some of my own colouring next year!

Fabulous Birthday

Good morning,
I've kept today's card really simple - the paper and sentiment are from the Craftwork Cards Vogue collection. I'm trying out a few different styles at the moment and I actually find that simple cards are more of a challenge because of the temptation to just keep going with the embellishments! But I really enjoyed making this and will definitely be embracing less is more again in the future.

Hope you like it. Thanks for looking!

Parisian Postcard

Good morning,
I haven't been able to do much crafting this week so I've been making up for it over the weekend. I ordered some products from Craftwork Cards for the first time and I'm really pleased with them. I made this card using the Correspondence range. The sentiment, flowers and postcard are from the Texture pad, and I cut the stamp, butterflies and postage marks out of backing paper. The frame was cut with a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Squares die and I added pearls and ribbon for embellishment.

Christmas Flowers

Hello,
I've always liked it on other people's cards when they fold over a corner of paper to reveal a contrasting paper so I thought I'd give it a go. I've used Kaisercraft papers and the flowers were made with Spellbinders Rose Creations.

I really enjoyed making this card and I hope you like it.

Thanks for looking. All comments are much appreciated.

Red Reindeer

Hello,
This is the card I'm entering into the challenge at Papertake Weekly. I decided to go for the option of less is more and I've used Nordic Christmas papers and this lovely little reindeer from The Ribbon Girl (I added the bell).

Pink and Yellow

Hello,
I've used an image from the new LOTV 'Cute Cottage Garden' art pad for today's card. I'm also challenging myself to use some different colour schemes because I haven't been very brave with this up to now! The wooden butterflies are from Samuel Taylors (I added the pearls).

I'm trying out my first Magnolia stamps this afternoon!
